Training

Training for the Komen 5K on September 10, and T-Tapping for strength.

Sunday, September 10

I ran the entire race! My time was 35 minutes, 25 seconds. I ran the entire time with rocket.dyke, who slowed down enough to let me keep going.

At the beginning of the race I allotted 35 minutes in my head, and really only started to struggle around 27 minutes. I just kept counting down from 35 minutes mentally. The last few minutes were really rough, but I just kept going, cheered on by rocket.dyke. I didn't think I'd be able to talk at all while running, but I actually did, quite a bit. We talked a lot about food sensitivities and how to deal with them, and triathalons and marathons, and that kept my mind off the agony of running.

My huge mistake was not doing PBS before the race. I had planned to, but then got distracted. I tried to run in alignment (and noticed a bunch of really duck-footed runners!) and definitely feel better in my joints today than I did after the Revlon in May, but I still had some knee pain in my right knee. I did PBS about 5 minutes after finishing the race, but I think if I'd done it before the race my knee wouldn't be hurting.

It is going to be such a nice luxury just to do B/R three times a week and not have to run!

Saturday, September 9

Off before race day. But I did not have even one drink Friday or Saturday, so that's good.

Monday-Tuesday, September 4-5

Off from T-Tapp (2-day rest after a bootcamp). Also didn't run! Bad!

Sunday, September 3

Supposed to run with rocket.dyke, but got my wires crossed, thought she was sick and couldn't run, so I blew her off.

Did Beginner/Rehab to finish my 4-day bootcamp. Why is Day 4 the worst in a bootcamp for me? It's just the last thing I want to do. Had a breakthrough about my arm position in the pumping section of PBS, and also in my shoulder position relative to my abs. Felt this workout much more!

Friday, September 1

I ran 24 minutes today. I was planning to run 32 minutes, but then just stopped at 24. It wasn't even that I absolutely couldn't go on. I just stopped. I wonder why.

I also did T-Tapp Basic/Rehab again today, so it looks like I'm halfway through a 4-day bootcamp.

I've been thinking about the women in the T-Tapp forums who have lost the most and seem happiest with their bodies, and how they did it. The two things that seem to be key are: 1) Tapping 3 times a week, every week, and 2) Doing a 4-day bootcamp every month. So I'm committing to doing a Basic/Rehab 4-day bootcamp at the beginning of every month, and doing Basic/Rehab 3 days a week. Until Christmas. I'm going to have to think of some reward for myself for getting to the end of October, and then all the way to Christmas. Although I hope I'll have to buy myself new clothes then anyway.

Did T-Tapp Basic/Rehab workout, sweating like a fool. My balance on Thread the Needle is getting better.
