Training

Training for the Komen 5K on September 10, and T-Tapping for strength.

Thursday, September 14

Shitty, shitty day.

El P went to bed at 6:45, and El C said, "Let's do T-Tapp, Mama!" He went and changed into his "workout clothes," which were boxer briefs (that look like bike shorts, natch) and a striped T-shirt. Then we did B/R. He actually did a bunch of the moves, but goofed around and threw himself into the couch the rest of the time.

All of a sudden I've found my abs during Thread the Needle. Holy crap. I could balance so much better, and was really, REALLY working my core. Things are definitely starting to happen.

Have I mentioned that I'm down a band size? I'm using my lats much more easily, and that's reducing the back fat.

I can tell I'm changing from the inside out. I haven't measured since June, and don't really care about it. I'm still waiting to drop a pant size. I think I went up another size on vacation (but wouldn't admit it to myself--stretchy pants) and am easily down below where I was when I started in April, but I still haven't gone down a size from there.

Part of my plan is to revisit Instructional #1 every month around the 10th, so that's what I did tonight. I don't think I was relaly connected, as PBS didn't warm me up the way it usually does. But I had some more insight during TTTwist.

Tuesday, September 12

I was absolutely exhausted, and would gladly have gone to bed as soon as El Chico was down at 8:45, but instead I got dressed and did B/R. After the first 15 minutes I had more energy. Lunes through Balance Sequence were rough, as usual, but I did fine from Thread the Needle (although I fell and bobbled more than usual) through Lawn Mowers. The last PBS was almost too much, though.

I am extremely proud of myself for just doing it.

Sunday, September 10

I ran the entire race! My time was 35 minutes, 25 seconds. I ran the entire time with rocket.dyke, who slowed down enough to let me keep going.

At the beginning of the race I allotted 35 minutes in my head, and really only started to struggle around 27 minutes. I just kept counting down from 35 minutes mentally. The last few minutes were really rough, but I just kept going, cheered on by rocket.dyke. I didn't think I'd be able to talk at all while running, but I actually did, quite a bit. We talked a lot about food sensitivities and how to deal with them, and triathalons and marathons, and that kept my mind off the agony of running.

My huge mistake was not doing PBS before the race. I had planned to, but then got distracted. I tried to run in alignment (and noticed a bunch of really duck-footed runners!) and definitely feel better in my joints today than I did after the Revlon in May, but I still had some knee pain in my right knee. I did PBS about 5 minutes after finishing the race, but I think if I'd done it before the race my knee wouldn't be hurting.

It is going to be such a nice luxury just to do B/R three times a week and not have to run!

Saturday, September 9

Off before race day. But I did not have even one drink Friday or Saturday, so that's good.
