DWTS

So the first dancing rounds have happened. I don't know if I can take three nights a week for a few weeks.

I'm rooting for Jennie Garth, too. I think in a few weeks she'll loosen up and start wowing people. Jane Alexander is so elegant that I think she'll be good to watch. Were Scary Spice's boobs always that huge?

I predict the Sports Illustrated girl with no rhythm goes first of the women, followed by Marie Osmond, who is an excellent sport. The Cheetah Girl is going to rock the Latin, but I think she's have problems with the Ballroom and the long lines and elegance needed for those dances.

Am I the only one who have never ever heard of Cameron Mathison, Helio Castroneves, Albert Reed, and Mark Cuban (in all fairness, one of my co-workers said, "You know, the billionaire who always argues with the refs?" and then I knew him)? The only men I knew were Floyd Mayweather (who I didn't think was anywhere near as bad as the judges did--I really enjoyed watching his dance, and it's obvious that he can move, so I think they were just spanking him for not being more precise, but if he gets voted out this round I'll be pissed) and Wayne Newton (see also: Good Sport).

I love that there's a hunky-but-goofy soap star who also just happens to have a health condition that required a torturous childhood and now inhibits his movement. It's like the Heather Mills thing, only with someone people actually like. (It helps if you haven't broken the heart of an international sweetheart.)

And I think Albert Reed has a little more personality than one would have thought. (His redhead partner scares me, though.) Doing the Ann-Margret/Elvis thing was smart for this first round to get attention.

How cute is Julianne Hough's brother, who looks like a combo of Ken (from Barbie and Ken) and  Zack from "Saved By The Bell."

Elimination prediction: The Sports Illustrated girl.

Also, I cannot wait to see Dolly Parton tonight! I don't even care if she sings. I just want to see her.

Scary Spice just had Eddie Murphy's baby a few months ago thus the huge boobs.

I'm sorry you don't know who Cameron Mathison is. He is a treat to watch on the days I work from home.

What I find interesting is Susan Lucci said she was asked to be on DWTS but couldn't work it out, with filming the soap in one place, and DWTS in another. And yet, Cameron M is on the same soap, and has just as prominent a part. Hmm.

yeah, we are pretty clueless with so many of the "stars" this year as well... my husband (not a big sports guy) was like, "how is being an entrepreneur a star? next season they'll have donald trump on!"

did anyone think that they were totally playing up the "heather mills my dancing will be super impressive since i have legs problems/a teflon hip/etc.?" we didn't see the ladies so i don't know.

how cute is wayne newton? poor guy was sweating his hiney off, his shirt was drenched! but his face never sweat- my husband said that's what happens when all of the blood vessels in your face have been cauterized.

i think you're right about that sports ill. girl. being the first one off. she won't get the votes that others will.

DWTS- whee!!

I love Jennie Garth. Loved her on 90210 (except for her strung-out heroin year). She seems so grounded in her marriage and in motherhood, how can you not root for her? Plus she seems like she has a "real" figure, not some paid-for hollywood body that requires a private trainer for 3 hours a day, 6 days a week and meals shipped in from Alaska.

(I'm not sure where I got that Alaska bit, but you know what I mean.)

Have long disliked Cameron Matheson's character on "All My Children" (though, to be fair, I stopped watching around the time that Ryan was still married to Greenlee and they were both sneering at poor Kendall) but really like the actor in person (okay, I haven't met him face-to-face, but you know what I mean). Funny, self-deprecating, and there's the cute thing as well. He also hosts "So You Want to Be a Soap Star" on "SoapNet." Sigh. I may have to start watching DTWS, finally...

The only guys I knew were Wayne Newton and Helio Castroneves - but I only know him because I live in Indianapolis. I don't follow racing at all, but it's like the law or something that you have to know who wins the Indy 500 every year. So the guys are a wash for me this season (because sadly, Wayne will probably be out pretty soon).

so what did everyone think of drew lachey? i was not so impressed, but i'm willing to give him some time to grow into the role. i was a little disappointed they didn't choose another woman to co-host, though. but that's the ERA advocate in me, i guess.
