Yeah. I give up on the miniskirt project. Just not practical for those days when I have to go to a toddler dance class and then run all around the island doing errands and having meetings and getting haircuts for little boys.
So I feel bad for not flashing my legs to the people of Manhattan. But if it makes anyone feel better, I discovered at the end of El P's dance class that my thong was sticking out the top of the back of my jeans, and apparently had been for the entire class.
* Tommy Silva from This Old House. I know he's old enough to be my dad, but I kind of have a crush on him. It's the skills, really.
* Duets by Barbra Streisand and Barry Gibb. I just heard "What Kind of Fool" on Music Choice (the cable TV radio channels), and that's a good song. Tragically sad lyrics, but the melody could not be more maudlin, and therefore fun to sing. "What? What KAAAHND of fool? Tears it a-PAAAAHRT? Leaving me pain? And sor-ROOOOOOWWWW?" I looked up the lyrics on the internet, then rewound the channel to sing along twice. Now I must find that song and "Guilty" on YouTube. Back in a minute.
Oooh. Crappy version of "Guilty" from the late '80s, but here's an excellent montage--why DO people make these montages for YouTube?--of "I Am a Woman in Love." (It's a RAAAAHT I de-FEEEEND. Ovah and ovah a-GAAAAAIN.) But no "What Kind of Fool." Bummer. (There is also no video of The Jets' "Rockit To You" on YouTube, which was yesterday's tragic discovery.)
But here's some woman named Regine Velasquez and her friend Gabby Eigenmann doing karaoke (on a television show from somwhere that's not the US, clearly) to "Guilty." Wow. The untold riches of YouTube. Regine also sings "Larger Than Life." Awesome. She's really got some pipes. I'd love to see her in a singing cage match with Meat Loaf.
